Summer at The Story Museum

The Story Museum is situated in the heart of Oxford on Pembroke Street and is a space dedicated to the celebration of stories in their myriad forms. Through immersive exhibitions, gallery spaces and a dynamic array of events, the Museum explores the enduring power of stories to both teach and delight.

This summer, a new Detectives-inspired exhibition designed by the Museum’s young Story Curators will go on display ~

Mystery Academy, A School for Young Detectives – opens Saturday 18th July.

Meanwhile, The Story Museum’s new permanent gallery, The Story Arcade, has been developed with support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Moving the Museum into the digital realm, it explores new story worlds from retro to the state-of-the-art, in a warm, welcoming space for families to play together.

In 2026 the Museum launched 1001 Stories, a new digital resource for parents, young people, and educators, celebrating the UK’s most important stories for all and playing a key role in Oxford’s contribution to the National Year of Reading.
