Alan, King of the Universe. Today, I Will Rule All!

Created by Tom McLaughlin

Published by Hodder Children's Books

Alan, a very orange cat, a very strongly opinionated cat with his loyal sidekick and very useful footrest, Fido, is back. He didn't quite manage his world domination in the first book so now he has his sights set on the universe. After all, go big or go home!

Adults who share reading time with Early Readers , you are in for a treat. The humour in this book will appeal to you on one level and your readers on another. Tom McLaughlin has found just the right balance in story, comedy and illustration. The story is hilarious, so incredibly impossible that it becomes quite believable! The story is creative and inventive in equal measure, set at a great pace for younger readers and filled with plenty of detail to look at. The real question is will the universe be less of a challenge than the planet to become master over? I love the squish-a-lator, the hilarious antics and the dual colour scheme throughout. One not to be missed!

The Gumdrops are new characters I think you are going to love meeting. They are very special and also very important because, you see, they are the guardians of a magical land which is filled with magical beings, just like themselves.

The Gumdrops love being given challenges to tackle, as guardians it’s what they’re good at after all. In this first adventure the challenge comes from a child who has written them a letter. The child is in need of an imaginary friend. Now this really is going to be a challenge for they have to search for all the ingredients which, when mixed together, will create the perfect imaginary friend. You can help them on their search and also be the one who keeps an eye out for the cheeky, mischievous and adorable Evilee…

In Happy Hills everyone is happy. Well, they try to be. What you might actually find is there are plenty of LOLS, some dramatic action (with a funny twist), a little bit of PERIL which has snuck in just to keep you on your toes, and plenty more silliness. Are you ready?

Happy Hills is ?welcoming? a new arrival. Cheesy Bob is here but since we soon discover that he is a mischievous monkey magician who has only arrived in Happy Hills for revenge he might not be very welcome when the residents discover this too. Ace is the only one who knows the truth but he is going to have to work fast to let the rest of the gang know that Cheesy bob is trouble with a capital T. Watch out for rainbows, cake, snacks, humour and more humour.

The Spectacular Space Loop

Created by Javi De Castro

Published by Flying Eye Books

Cosmo has a story book, an adventure in space to share but this book is more than it seems, this book has a secret, once you finish you actually don’t, no it isn’t a trick, you simply reach the last page, the last words and pictures, then turn the book over to continue… Clever!

If you’re ready to join Cosmo and his team then make sure you have your space suit and helmet on since it’s time for lift off. You are going to help them test the new jetpack Cosmo has. But when he starts it the whole thing explodes and he’s sent into space. It’s going to be an exciting adventure but one which his friends can’t help with. Maybe you can? There will be aliens, magicians, destroyers, a few sewer mutants and even a creature which looks remarkably like an egg. If you’re ready for the unexpected you’re ready for this adventure.

A vampire squid and a sea bunny? Yes, you did read that correctly and yes, that does mean you are back for another adventure with Squid Squad. These two are just a part of the group of some of the ocean’s wackiest and weirdest creatures and they are waiting for adventure…with you!

Nowhere is a deep-sea town, it’s their home and it’s the place they can freely practice their special skills – shooting thorns, tripling in size and even releasing stink bombs, eugh! Wondering if this adventure is going to be about chaos or saving the day? Well, I can tell you that Ollie and Zing are about to try out a few grown-up jobs, just to see if they like them. I wonder how it. will go when they adopt an unusual pet and attempt to track down a prized painting…?

Do you know of the Loch Ness Monster, more often known, affectionately, as Nessie? Well, she seems to have found his way into a book, one that I am hoping is just the first in a new series of adventures. You see this Nessie is a secret agent… Shhhh….

Nessie might be a monster but she is also on a mission and she is not alone, she has her W.E.T. friends to support her. You’ll soon meet them; the team are very important and love working together even if it isn’t always successfully or without mishap! Their first mission is to stop a gang of seagulls who are not only squabbling but also terrorising Loch Ness with their stealing. The team are going to need to work hard to uncover the bird-brained plan this gang have…and then foil it.
