All the royalties from the sale of this book go to Dyslexia Action. This is a good thing and I hope it sells lots of copies and helps the organization and all who benefit from its work.

The poems here are mainly funny and printed in a sans serif font, which is apparently easier to read. It's also printed on off-white paper, which is a help to many who have trouble with reading.

The emphasis here is on humour and indeed some of the poems are hilarious. This one by Mike Johnson made me laugh out loud. It's called 'Science Lesson.'

"We've done 'water' and 'metals' and 'plastic.'
Today it's the turn of 'elastic.'
Teacher sets up a test.
Wow, that was the best!
He whizzed through the window. Fantastic!"

There's also a very sweet little poem called Fruit Jokes from the late, much-missed Adrian Mitchell:

"The satsuma
has no sense of humour
but a fig'll
giggle."

The book is inexpensive and the illustrations are very up-to-the-minute and in the Sara Fanelli mode. It'll make a jolly addition to the school bookshelf and may prompt children to move on to other things in time.
