When Paddington visits the zoo he makes sure that he takes enough marmalade sandwiches with him to last all day so he is none to pleased to discover how popular they prove to be with the zoo's inhabitants!

To quote Stephen Fry “Paddington is a very British institution” and he has not lost his appeal.

When Jonathan and Judy take Paddington on an outing to the zoo the little bear makes no less than six marmalade sandwiches to last through the day, a series of mishaps means that most of them are lost to the different animals that he meets whilst he is there.

This is a classic Paddington story in a new format. The A5 sized book, fully illustrated with lovely colour pictures that fill the page and the eye of the reader are full of amusing detail enhancing the reading experience. The large font of the text means that the story is easy to read and it is made yet more accessible by the inclusion of an audio CD complete with two tracks. On track one the story is read and accompanied by music with some sound effects, track two allows the listener to read along with the book.

The CD encourages developing readers to branch out independently and take a step towards more difficult reading. The sound effects and great pictures encourage the youngest reader to engage with the story and can begin to teach them about reading as well as listening.

This is a package that works on many levels and as such is a welcome addition to the Paddington library.
